Dr. Rindfleish strongly believes in preventive dental care as the best possible means of maintaining optimal oral health. With regular dental exams and cleanings, dental problems such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, tooth loss and oral cancer can be prevented, or detected in the earliest stages, allowing for a more predictable outcome at less cost. For most patients, Dr. Rindfleish recommends a dental cleaning and exam every six months. This general care is what family dentistry is all about. It’s the foundation of dental care that will keep patients and their families healthy throughout their lives. Whether you need dental care for yourself or one of your children, Bronxville Dental provides treatment to patients of every age.

But what is included in family dentistry? A dental cleaning is a routine service that patients should schedule every six months. Dr. Rindfleish will thoroughly clean every nook and cranny of your teeth to remove plaque that you couldn’t reach by brushing and flossing. This is also a preventative measure against tooth decay and gum disease. Fluoride treatments and dental sealants are both excellent options to protect your child’s teeth. Sealants are plastic coating material that prevents sugar from sitting on the enamel or tooth surface, therefore preventing cavity development. If you have children, be sure to ask Dr. Rindfleish about dental sealants and whether they are right for your child.

It could save you money that you won’t have to spend on fillings. Fluoride, meanwhile, is a completely natural mineral added to mouthwash and toothpaste that prevents cavities and tooth decay. An in-office fluoride treatment is a high-concentration gel or foam applied to the teeth. A routine checkup that may include x-rays or other imaging could detect a cavity that needs a filling. Dr. Rindfleish will numb the area around the tooth so you won’t feel any pain. Any tooth decay is removed to prevent further damage. The composite filling material is then molded to match the shape of your tooth surface and is bonded to it to fill the cavity. A checkup may also detect signs of oral cancer that need to be addressed as soon as possible. Why do you need a family dentist? Just like the family physician that keeps your body healthy, a family dentist keeps your teeth and gums healthy. Without dental care, you could develop gum disease and tooth decay that causes major problems down the line. The worse a problem is, the more complex and expensive it is to treat. The family dentist could also refer you to an orthodontist if you or your child needs orthodontics such as braces or clear aligners to fix teeth and jaw misalignments. Your family deserves excellent oral health. Dr. Rindfleish and our Bronxville Dental staff are ready to provide you and your family with top-notch dental care for a lifetime.
